Petite Sirah

$25.50

Developed as a cross between two different grapes in France where it is known as Durif, it is virtually unknown in its ancestral home. Fortunately for us, it thrives in many regions of California including here in the Temecula Valley where it grows very well. Back in the Gold Rush days of California, you often found field blends of numerous red grapes grown together; Petite Sirah, as this grape became to be known here, was usually among those many grapes.

Petite Sirah is uniquely Californian and can be quite the inky, tannic beast. But it’s a fun beast that when produced with a little restraint can be a wonderfully full-bodied red. It is this latter version that we are proud to produce.

Aroma: Red and black and blue berries, black pepper and dried herbs. A sweet jammy note on the end.
Palate: Boysenberries, spice, with full tannins lingering on the finish.
Pairing: Meat! Try a peppered ribeye or roast, rich beef or lamb stews. Dark chocolate, if you’re into that pairing.
