Pinot Grigio—also called Pinot Gris in some places—is well-adapted to growing conditions found in the Temecula valley. When the grapes are fully ripe they have a dark brown, almost copper color to them. Thornton Winery’s aim is to make Pinot Grigio in a fruit-forward, balance style that strikes a balance between richness and crisp acidity. Sometimes our winemaker opts to ferment some of the wine in neutral (previously-filled) oak barrels that impart added richness and palate weight.
