Thornton Wines Receive Ever-increasing Accolades

Thornton Winery consistently produced award-winning wines that compete on both the national and international level. Here's a recap of some of our 2007 awards.

2005 Estate Syrah
- Best of Class Red (2007 Temecula Competition)
$59.00 per bottle - This wine is grown on the Thornton estate Vineyard, the fruit was hand selected and picked at optimum maturity lightly crushed and fermented. Dusty berry and black cherry aromas, with a touch of white pepper entice the most discerning oenophile to quickly tilt the glass....

2004 Merlot
- Best of Class South Coast (California State Fair 2007)
$26.00 per bottle - This wine is a excellent example of a well known Bordeaux variety, out 2004 Merlot is an outstanding full-bodied wine. This Merlot opens with hints of blackberry and spice, with a unique trace of peppercorn character in the nose. Abundant plum and cherry flavors coat the palate with undertones of anise and fig.

2006 Sangiovese Rose
- Gold (New World International Wine Competition 2007)
- Gold (Orange County Fair Wine Competition 2007)
- Silver (Temecula Competition 2007)
$18.00 per bottle - Sangiovese, the principal red grape varietal of central Italy, is known for producing a medium to full-bodied red wine. This grape, however, can also be used to make an amazing rose. This ruby red rose has red fruit flavors of cranberry, cherry, strawberry and watermelon with ample acidity to balance its slight sweetness.

2004 Late Harvest Zinfandal
- Gold (Grand Harvest Awards 2007)
- Gold (West Coast Wine Competition 2007)
- Gold (Temecula Valley Wine Competition 2007)

- Bronze (Monterey Wine Competition 2007)
