THORNTON WINERY TAKES GOLD!
TEMECULA - Thornton Winery of Temecula, California, has captured a Gold Medal at the 2007 Vineyard & Winery Management Grand Harvest Awards. Among these awards were a gold medal for their Late Harvest Zinfandel, silver medals for the 2005 Chardonnay and 1996 Brut Reserve, with bronze medals for their 2005 Sangiovese, 2004 Merlot, 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon and NV Blanc de Noirs.

On Friday March 16th, 2007 Thornton Winery in Temecula, California released its second wine under the new “Thorny’s” label, the 2005 Thorny’s Cote Red. “This is a delicious red blend of Rhone varietals with a bit of Italian influence that shows luscious fruit and richness with a touch of toast oak” states Winemaker Don Reha. This new release will have a retail price of $ 16.00. President Steve Thornton said, “at this new $16.00 price point, this will be one of the best values in California” when asked about the new addition. The Thorny’s Cote Red bottling was proceeded by the inaugural release of the 2005 Thorny’s White Zinfandel released early last fall.
John M. and Sally B. Thornton founded Thornton Winery, located North of San Diego in Temecula, California, in 1988.
